Chances were, you’ve heard or even seen numerous lightning strikes yesterday on Monday. I’ve felt some rumbling and shaking, and definitely took note of the lack of rainfall. This phenomenon is known as dry lightning (less than half an inch of rain, it any at all), and it only means one thing: Fires. I know I’ve heard or seen a few strikes, but at least 1000 strikes were reported within 3 hours (yikes). Of course there are several fires being fought by Cal Fire, but thankfully none of them threaten significant infrastructure or people (yet). Some lightning strikes were to be expected today too, so don’t be too surprised by bright flashes or booming sounds.
