Fresno Students Protest Mass Deportations

As there are a myriad of protests nationally against the nearly fascist federal government we are under (all thanks to Trump, duh), Fresno is of course not exempt from these protests. Over half of Fresno is composed of Hispanic, with 1/3 of the entire Central Valley being Hispanic/Latino. There are plenty of protest activities going on, but one of the most outstanding protests come from students. Many students have not attended school this week, and just today, McLane High School (the high school I also graduated from) has had around a hundred students “march” at the Cedar and Shields intersection, continually crossing the crosswalks across the street and seemingly grabbing the attention of many drivers, responding with honks and excessive engine revving. I stumbled across this on my way to school, but I’m rushing for class so I certainly had no time to capture the moment. Thankfully that’s what the media is for. Shockingly, 2 hours later, when my class ended, I still came across a portion of the participating students, in which case I took the opportunity to snap some photos.

The Fresno Bee’s Coverage of the McLane High School Protest; apparently the students went as far as Dakota avenue, which I never saw while I was out and about that day going to and from Fresno State University.
