A little over a week ago, there was a massive billow of smoke I could see coming from the distance. I thought nothing of it and just assumed it was some cooking fumes. It was not until I had driven near Blackstone and McKinley that I noticed the chaos–dozens of flashing lights, with numerous police vehicles redirecting traffic, preventing movement past the Blackstone/McKinley intersection. One could easily see the very bright lights, as if a gigantic operating room theatre, with several firetrucks as the surgeons–with their ladders fully extended–spraying many gallons of water on its patient–the building engulfed in fire and smoke. The smell was quite bad as you could imagine. If you aren’t aware of Fresno stuff, it is essential to point out that this Carl’s Jr had been closed for a while anyways to make way for the California High Speed Rail project–the building was going to be destroyed anyway. While the cause of the fire was started by a homeless person, I have a hypothesis that Bob Salazar was hired to shave down demolition costs!
