One of Fresno’s most beloved cultural celebrations is returning this September as Fresno Greek Fest welcomes visitors back to St. George Greek Orthodox Church for a weekend filled with authentic food, live music, traditional dancing, shopping, and family-friendly activities. Now in its 64th year, Greek Fest has become a longtime Fresno tradition, giving the community an opportunity to experience Greek culture through food, hospitality, music, and faith. The roots of the festival stretch back more than a century. Greek immigrants began arriving in Fresno during the early 20th century and established what would become the local Greek community. St. George Greek Orthodox Church was officially incorporated in 1923, and the original church building was constructed in 1924.
Location and Dates
This year’s festival will take place on the grounds of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, located at 2219 N. Orchard Avenue at the southwest corner of First Street and Clinton Avenue. Festival hours are scheduled for Friday, September 18, from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, September 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $4 for seniors age 65 and older and students with ID, while children 12 and under and active military members with identification receive free admission. Organizers note that a portion of every ticket sold will benefit the Poverello House. Visitors should also be aware that Greek Fest is a cash-free event, with major credit cards, debit cards, and tap-to-pay options accepted throughout the festival grounds.
Food & Entertainment
For many attendees, the food is the main attraction, and this year’s menu once again offers an enormous selection of Greek favorites. Guests can enjoy gyros, souvlaki, Greek fries, fried calamari, dolmades, feta cheese, and much more. In other words, this is probably not the event to attend after you’ve already eaten lunch. Entertainment will be happening throughout the weekend as St. George’s dance groups are joined by guest performers from Bakersfield and Redondo Beach. Traditional dances representing regions from across Greece will be showcased, and visitors are encouraged not only to watch but to join in the fun. Live music will also be a major part of the experience. The Olympians, a popular Greek band from Long Beach, will perform on the main stage, while internationally renowned musician Orestes Koletsos and his duo from Athens, Greece, will provide acoustic performances on the patio.
Beyond the food and entertainment, visitors can browse the Greek Market, which will feature imported foods, baking ingredients, breads, cheeses, artwork and more. Guests can also take advantage of the opportunity to tour St. George Church and admire its newly renovated interior, including its impressive domed ceiling and stained-glass features. Families bringing children will find plenty to do as well, with inflatable slides, bounce houses, and additional activities available throughout the festival, along with unlimited daily wristbands for younger guests.

One of the most useful features of this year’s festival may actually be the parking situation. Anyone who has lived in Fresno knows that September can still feel like the middle of summer, with triple-digit temperatures remaining common well into the month. Walking several blocks across hot parking lots is not most people’s idea of a good time, which is why the festival’s free shuttle service deserves special attention. Organizers will operate two 15-passenger shuttle vans continuously throughout the entire festival weekend, making it easy to take advantage of remote parking options without sacrificing convenience.
Free shuttle service will operate between St. Peter Serbian Orthodox Church at 3502 N. First Street and the festival grounds, with free parking available all weekend at that location. Additional free parking will be available at the Fresno Art Museum all weekend long, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Friday and Sunday as well as Saturday beginning at 2 p.m., and at both VA Hospital parking lots during designated festival hours. Visitors who prefer the closest possible parking can use the Masonic Lodge lot for $20, which is located nearest to the festival entrance. The free shuttle service may end up being one of the event’s most underrated perks. Instead of paying for premium parking or making a long walk in the afternoon heat, visitors can park at one of the designated locations and let the shuttle do the work.
