You’re not imagining it—Fresno is colder.

It’s not Winter yet (not until Dec 21), but it sure does feel like it. It’s like Spring and Fall seasons don’t even exist here in Fresno—it’s either Summer or Winter! As any Fresnan might have noticed, it sure was extra rainy this Fall season; and that is part of the reason for colder than usual weather. Fresno’s temperature this time of year is usually 49 degrees on average, but it’s averaging 44 degrees this year. Added moisture from the Fall rains formed a “cloud deck”, a cloud barrier that has kept the skies overcast, and worse yet, an area of high pressure (high pressure is normally responsible for keeping the skies clear and the weather uneventful) above the clouds keeps the barrier from dissipating. Areas not impacted by this cloud barrier on the other hand are experiencing plenty of sun and warmth, with Oakhurst having had a near 80 degree day.
