Thousands of fans waited through intense heat and long lines to see and hear Shakira perform on stage. It was the first concert ever held at Valley Children’s Stadium. While many were able to get in early, others faced a night of frustration before ever setting foot inside the stadium.
I unknowingly got stuck in the area around Cedar and Shaw last night and I immediately regretted it for sure. Traffic was backed up for over a mile between Highway 41 and Valley Children’s Stadium on Shaw Avenue. It was an absolute mess. They wound up pushing the start time back an hour because of the extreme heat, which was a considerate gesture, but it was still very hot.
I know CSU Fresno was very excited about using Valley Children’s Stadium in hopes that it unlocked some major sources of funding from other similar events. They better figure something out to tackle the severe traffic congestion and lack of adequate parking.
