So, after years of frustration with certain traffic patterns in Fresno, my curiosity actually led me to an article published in 2018 by another Fresno blogger: The 7 Worst Traffic Problems In Fresno. Huh, 7 Worst Traffic Problems in Fresno is still pretty much the same 7 years later. I do a lot of professional driving, and so far I’m able to confirm the validity of this, sadly. It’s sad because in those 7 years, those issues could have been mitigated. The one that I absolutely detest the most are the dumb ass trains that PARK, yes, PARK, on West Shaw Avenue where it intersects with Golden State Boulevard.
I had this post in mind for several weeks, so all the text below is no longer up to date, since there is new construction around the mentioned area.
So while Fresno has done absolutely nothing about this, and that there is absolutely no way to predict trains parking on major intersections where they please, you can take steps to avoid or go around these blockages or dangers. Shaw/Golden State can be bypassed. If you’re coming from the East, you can flip a U-turn over the thankfully thin divider that’s around if you can see the train. Regardless of where you are, just turn around from Shaw/GSB, and you can turn on Brawley to bypass the parked train.
