Fresno’s convention business has not rebounded around a single blockbuster gathering. Instead, city and tourism officials are betting that new hotel rooms, venue management and downtown infrastructure can rebuild Fresno’s reputation one booking at a time.
Visit Fresno County helped bring 83 events to Fresno and Clovis in 2025, generating approximately 36,500 hotel and motel room nights and an estimated $43 million in regional economic activity, according to the tourism agency.
That was up from 2024, when 55 events generated more than 30,300 room nights and an estimated $38.5 million economic impact.
The local growth comes as the broader events industry surpasses some of its pre-pandemic benchmarks.
A new Events Industry Council study conducted by Oxford Economics found that business events attracted 1.65 billion participants across more than 180 countries in 2025. The events generated $1.3 trillion in direct spending, up 12.2% from 2019.
When indirect and induced activity was included, the industry supported $3.1 trillion in business sales, contributed $1.8 trillion to the global economy and sustained 24.2 million jobs.
North America led all regions with $487.7 billion in direct spending.
