Break the Barriers is a place that is headquartered in Fresno, but its impact goes beyond Fresno. Break the Barriers celebrates awareness and victories of all abilities, ethnicities, and ages through exceptional programs, outreach, and inclusion education. Break the Barriers is more than a Fresno treasure—it’s a global force for inclusion, serving people of all abilities, veterans, and communities worldwide.

Founded in Fresno in 1984, Break the Barriers began as a local nonprofit dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where persons with disabilities, veterans, and people of all ages could thrive. Today, while its headquarters remain in Fresno, its influence stretches across the globe. Break the Barriers has reached 12 countries, partnered with 276 community organizations, collaborated with 152 schools, and worked alongside 8 foreign governments. More than 300 million people have been touched by its programs, outreach, and advocacy. 

This means Fresno isn’t just home to a local nonprofit—it’s the launchpad for a worldwide movement of inclusion. Yay, Fresno may be known for something other than drugs and human trafficking!
