For better or worse? Blackstone is changing.

Blackstone Avenue is seeing a bunch of construction, of which I primarily saw near River Park. The traffic in this area is terrible, so if Blackstone is still somehow driveable around here, avoid it at all costs. But why? You see, this is a foreshadowing of what’s to come: the elimination of a vehicle lane[s] to make way for bicycles and pedestrian paths, starting all the way from Manchester. Yikes. Blackstone is a very busy avenue that already faces plenty of congestion at peak hours, so I just cannot imagine it only having 2 vehicle lanes. In addition, the speed limit will change from 40 to 30. Will the new bicycle paths be worth it? I sure hope so. Blackstone Avenue is already quite bicycle unfriendly due to its lack of bicycle lanes, so just maybe things will be better for locals and urbanites. Also, a lot of drivers on Blackstone don’t really use all 3 lanes effectively anyways; smarter drivers will just have to utilize better routes if Blackstone congestion really will be an issue later down the road.
