The Milburn Pond

The San Joaquin River is viewable throughout parts of Fresno, such as from Nees and Palm, which provides parking and access to trails. But there’s always people there. However, there’s a unique view of it Millburn (near Herndon / Alluvial), which seems to be far less crowded, and to me, that makes it all the more serene. I don’t quite remember if there’s walkable trails there, but it’s nice to have a different perspective. There’s also a golf course nearby; I have a feeling the golfers are there for the view of the river. But the San Joaquin river isn’t the only unique feature there. There’s the Milburn pond, which appears to be an abandoned gravel pit, or a breach pit related to “blast mining“. Whatever it is, it’s a unique feature along the San Joaquin river that has some political and environmental stuff around it. See it while it’s still around, whatever happens to it.
