Fresno Philharmonic: Mahler Here & Now (February 3rd & 4th)

Music of Heaven and Earth. Music Director Rei Hotoda’s exploration of the symphonies of Gustav Mahler continues with his Fourth Symphony. This delightful evocation of childhood innocence was strongly influenced by Schubertian lyricism and German folk poetry. It culminates in a song for soprano describing a child’s view of Heaven. The devastation of nature from California’s recent spate of wildfires is the subject of Gabriela Lena Frank’s moving 2021 work Contested Eden.

Pink Martini in concert

Featuring a dozen musicians with songs in 25 languages, Pink Martini performs its multilingual repertoire with more than 70 orchestras around the world, including multiple engagements with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, the Boston Pops and the San Francisco Symphony.

This will be the first time ever that Pink Martini performs with Fresno Philharmonic in concert.
