Kaiser Permanente currently stands as the only medical facility in Fresno that grants significant protections/equality to LGBTQ+ people, and as a whole has a Healthcare Equality Index score of 100. It’s not too surprising when you consider that Kaiser Permanente is headquartered in the very liberal Bay Area (Oakland to be specific). The only other medical facility rated by the HRC is the Fresno VA Medical Center, at 60 points. At least they participated to be scored. Others in the area don’t have a score (and policy wise, are not as great as Fresno VA). Hopefully Fresno sees improvements in those hospitals; the queers aren’t shrinking in number anytime soon!
